Aayla Alexander is a Post-MSW Fellow at CAPS. Originally from Fayetteville, NC, Aayla received her Bachelor of Arts (BA) from Queens University of Charlotte where she double majored in Psychology and Sociology. She received her Master of Social Work (MSW) from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Aayla practices from a Client-Focused perspective, customizing her therapeutic interventions based on client’s needs and strengths. She also enjoys interpersonal process, CBT, exposure therapy and use of self, interwoven with a creative niche. Aayla’s professional interests include diversity and multicultural concerns, phase of life (life transitions), family of origin, and self-compassion with a specific interest in underserved and underrepresented communities. Outside CAPS, Aayla enjoys reading, napping, professional basketball (GO CELTICS), traveling, and connecting to nature (beach please).
