Gabby Roy

Pre-Doctoral Psychology Intern

Gabby is a pre-doctoral psychology intern at CAPS and a doctoral candidate in clinical psychology at the University of Hartford in Hartford, CT.  Gabby also completed her M.A. in clinical psychology at the University of Hartford and received her B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from SUNY Albany.

In her work Gabby aims to facilitate a collaborative space for clients to explore their current stressors in an accepting environment.  She works from primarily a cognitive-behavioral perspective, but also incorporates psychodynamic and emotion-focused theories when appropriate all through a multicultural lens.  Basically, Gabby seeks to understand current distress by discussing associated thoughts, behaviors, and emotions, but also explores how past experiences, relationships, and upbringing may impact how individuals cope.

Gabby’s primary clinical interests include eating disorders, identity formation, anxiety, adjustment, interpersonal relationship issues, trauma, and multicultural and social justice concerns.  Outside of CAPS, Gabby enjoys reading, watching movies, and spending time with her pug, Cookie.
