It can be challenging when the world sees you one way and ignores other parts of you. This can be especially true in our world, and nation, where race is often so complex and fraught. That is often the experience of many multi-racial or biracial people. This group focuses on group members’ unique experiences to explore themes of belonging, invisibility, family, pain, joy, healing, self-worth and acceptance (love), self-discovery, shame, stigma, anger, and discrimination. This group seeks to create a safe and trusting environment, dialogue openly and honestly about the experiences of being multi-racial, and facilitate empowerment and encouragement. Being at UNC-Chapel Hill can be a challenge: You may feel isolated, not good enough, unseen and unrecognized, anxious or depressed. Don’t go through this experience alone! Learn more about yourself, your identities and how you want to navigate in the world.

All students may engage in all group therapy environments. To join a group, students first meet with a CAPS therapist in a one-on-one setting to determine which group(s) might best support their needs.
