Honoring Black History Month at Carolina This month, we celebrate the incredible contributions of Black people to history, culture, and society all around the globe but especially right here in Chapel Hill. Each slide in this post features a different icon of Carolina Black History, recognizing the courage, resilience, and breakthroughs of Black trailblazers who had to find their own way through a broken system. Let’s continue to learn, reflect, and elevate the historically oppressed voices that have shaped our past and present.
Challenges may come, but your strength and resilience will carry you through. Keep pushing forward Tar Heels— you’ve got this!
When the news feels overwhelming, it's okay to step back and take care of yourself. Prioritizing yourself isn't ignoring the world, it's making sure you have the strength to engage with it. 👣 If you need mental health support, check out care.unc.edu, visit caps, or call CAPS 24/7 at 919-966-3658.
We are loving seeing these signs around campus. A reminder that there is hope. The signs were developed by the JED Task Force, who is working on Carolina’s mental health promotion and suicide prevention efforts. Make sure to check on your friends and loved ones Tar Heels. Learn more about mental health resources, suicide prevention, the JED Task Force, and more at care.unc.edu, linked in our bio.
