CAPS Training Programs

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Counseling and Psychological Services offers a 2000 hour, twelve month, full-time APA-accredited Health Services Psychology internship. Interns participate in a wide array of clinical experiences, while receiving high quality supervision. Our training program places primary emphasis on helping interns to develop clinical expertise and strong skills in individual therapy, triage, crisis work and group therapy.

UNC Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) addresses the needs of undergraduate and graduate students, as well as post-doctoral fellows and spouses. UNC Chapel Hill has a diverse population of about 29,000 students. A fairly representative portion of the student body at UNC accesses services at CAPS at some point in their academic career. We are part of Campus Health Services, which is administratively located within Student Affairs.

The University of North Carolina Counseling and Psychological Services offers a part-time field placement opportunity for psychology and social work students enrolled in graduate programs. Trainees participate in a wide array of clinical experiences, including, but not limited to, individual therapy, group therapy, referral coordination, and triage. They also receive high quality individual/group supervision and participate in a case conference and seminar, all of which are designed to enhance their personal and professional growth.
